Gwinnett Chamber Honors Bill Stevens for Leadership

Stevens, who recently retired from Duluth PD, presented Public Safety Leadership Award by Gwinnett Chamber. He continues to be active with Operation One Voice, an organization he founded to help families of fallen and wounded Special Operations Forces.

Retired Duluth Police officer Bill Stevens was recently honored with the Public Safety Leadership Award by the Gwinnett Chamber of Commerce.

This award honors senior public safety professionals who have performed their jobs with exceptional skill and expertise and show innovation in leadership and team building. 

He was among police officers and firemen recognized at the Gwinnett Chamber Valor Awards ceremony March 22, 2013.

Stevens, who achieved the rank of lieutenant led the Duluth Police Department’s Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS) Division. He retired after 19 years with the Duluth Police Department in December 2012.

His retirement concluded 36 years of continuous public safety service in Gwinnett County.

Besides his employment with Duluth PD (1993-2012), he served with Gwinnett Fire & Emergency Services (1976-2006), and the City of Buford Volunteer Fire Department (1977-1980). He also was a member of the Fulton County Sheriff’s Reserve (1990-1993).

Stevens continues to volunteer with Operation One Voice, an organization he founded in 2002 to assist families of fallen and wounded Special Operations Forces. 

He also designed and developed the statewide Operation Drive Smart safe driving program for teens (2000-2012).

He was previously recognized for his dedicated service as a police officer by the Gwinnett Chamber, Gwinnett Bar Association and American Legion.
