GOP stopgap spending plan to be delayed

''We've got a large number of folks in our conference who have said they need the vote to happen this way,'' Rep. Rob Woodall, R-Ga. ''The leadership tried to craft a solution that meets those needs. We may be finding out that we didn't come as close to meeting those needs as folks would have liked.''

This interesting quote needs to be seen by voters of the Georgia 7th district. It is a window into the heart and soul of GA 7th District Congressman Rob Woodall. It may seem innocuous to the casual reader, but should be setting off alarm bells to the voters of the Georgia 7th District, particularly those that attended Town Halls in August and bought into the rationale of protecting the budget cuts and the need to protect vulnerable members. That the Congressman could present himself in the Town Halls as not being part of the problem in Washington and then make this statement show just how easy the voters fall for the political rhetoric he dished out. After all, a reasonable mind could be persuaded to accept this nuance as part of a larger scheme.

Therein lies the problem with the leadership in House of Representatives, of which Congressman Woodall is very much involved. The quote is more telling in that it shows the Congressman more embracing of the interests of his leadership than the people he represents.

That is the take away from this quote and something that the voters of the GA 7th need to consider. Who will the Congressman listen to when casts his votes on the very important issues to be considered between now and the end of the 1st session of the 113th Congress? Do you think that the Congressman has a better perspective that justifies his positioning within leadership? What message from the GA 7th does he portray to John Boehner? My best analysis is that the voters of the 7th want something quite different from their Congressman and the House Leadership. Look again to the last line of the quote:

"We may be finding out that we didn't come as close to meeting those needs as folks would have liked.''

The folks the Congressman refers to in the quote is not his constituents. It is his fellow members. That is very telling.
