Open question: Should the U.S. take action?

Open debate on whether the United States should take military action to stop the conflict in Syria.

60 more were killed this Tuesday in the latest string of Syrian government attacks on its people. It has been nearly one and a half years since the violence in Syria began to escalate between President Bashar al-Assad's government troops and civilian uprisers. Syria's trouble's began after al-Assad promised his people sweeping political reforms and increased civil rights. As the months passed, the Syrian people grew increasingly restless as it became apparent that al-Assad had no intentions of living up to his promises.

This conflict, now termed by the Red Cross as a full scale civil war, has become increasingly more violent as the overall death toll has reached upwards of 25,000. Clearly the situation is as dire as it gets, and once again the United Nations does nothing but condemn and lay down its usual economic sanctions. The world can no longer depend on the United Nations to put an end to any significant conflict, so this begs the question; should the United States step in and take military action in an attempt to put an end to the fighting?
