Duluth Cancels Weekend Winter Fest

The event originally was scheduled for Saturday.

Updated 5:50 a.m.

The City of Duluth has cancelled its Winter Fest, originally scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 15, on the Town Green.

Weather forecasts were cited. The city's Facebook page had a notice about the cancellation. It read in part:

"for the safety of our performers, vendors and guest we will have to save our Winter Fest festivities for next year."

According to weather.gov, there is a 100 percent chance of rain in the Duluth area Saturday, with wind gusts as high as 25 mph.

It's at least the second holiday event in the area to fall victim to weather forecasts. The City of Suwanee rescheduled its Old Town Caboose Lighting from Dec. 6 to Dec. 15.
