Creative or Hazard? Christmas Decor Prompts 911 Call in Gwinnett

Christmas decor in a Berkeley Lake community has gotten quite a bit of attention, including from Gwinnett County's 911 first responders.

According to wsbtv.com, a woman called 911 recently when she noticed what looked like a man hanging from a house on Duckpond Trace, near Christmas decorations.

“I opened the door, there were  fire trucks, ambulance, fire marshal, police car and six firemen,” homeowner Bubba Murphy said.

To compete with other Christmas displays in their neighborhood, the Murphys put up a hanging mannequin with a fallen ladder, surrounded by Christmas lights, on their home.

However, the display looked so real, a woman passing by with her children was horrified and called 911, saying she saw a hanging man.

Gwinnett Police, firefighters, and emergency personnel responded to the home.

“We saw the ambulance ... we didn’t know what was going on ... we were just hoping everyone was OK,” one neighbor told WSB.

“Oh my gosh, she apologized to myself, my wife, the firemen, and the fire marshal,” Bubba Murphy said.

Fire crews advised the Murphys to take down the mannequin display, but seems they have put it back up due to popular demand, according to the WSB article.

"People need to just lighten up and have some fun," one commenter said on the WSB Facebook page.
