As most of you already know, we are under a Heat Advisory for Tuesday. High temperatures will approach 100 degrees. The heat index will hit 105 degrees and up, and the low temperatures will not fall below 75 degrees for both Tuesday and Wednesday mornings.Β

From the National Weather Service:

A HEAT ADVISORY MEANS THAT A PERIOD OF DANGEROUS HEAT IS EXPECTED. DRINK PLENTY OF FLUIDS...STAY IN AN AIR-CONDITIONED ROOM AND STAY OUT OF DIRECT SUNSHINE. REMEMBER...THE ELDERLY...VERY YOUNG...AND PEOPLE WITH HEART CONDITIONS ARE MOST AT RISK IN EXTREME HEAT. FRIENDS...RELATIVES... AND NEIGHBORS SHOULD CHECK ON PEOPLE WHO MAY BE AT RISK. WHEN POSSIBLE...RESCHEDULE STRENUOUS ACTIVITIES TO EARLY MORNING OR AFTER SUNSET. KNOW THE SIGNS AND SYMPTOMS OF HEAT EXHAUSTION AND HEAT STROKE. WEAR LIGHT WEIGHT AND LOOSE FITTING CLOTHING WHEN POSSIBLE AND DRINK PLENTY OF WATER. TO REDUCE RISK DURING OUTDOOR WORK THE OCCUPATIONAL SAFETY AND HEALTH ADMINISTRATION RECOMMENDS SCHEDULING FREQUENT REST BREAKS IN SHADED OR AIR CONDITIONED ENVIRONMENTS. ANYONE OVERCOME BY HEAT SHOULD BE MOVED TO A COOL AND SHADED LOCATION. HEAT STROKE IS AN EMERGENCY - CALL 911.
