Hot and Muggy, Then Just Hot!

Hot and muggy for a few more days and then just plain hot is what's in store this week for our weather. 

We're in a typical summer pattern right now with daily afternoon and evening thundershowers scattered across Georgia. On Sunday the heavy rain set a record for the year for maximum precipitation rate at DaculaWeather.com when rain fell at the rate of .299"/minute and we received .73" of rainfall. Today, expect a frontal boundary to sag into the state and lie west to east across North Georgia later this afternoon. This front will be the focusing mechanisim for showers and thunderstorms later in the day and into the evening.  (See radar image)

Later in the week, a fairly strong high pressure system will build into our area bringing hot and dry conditions once again, beginning Thursday and lasting through the weekend. It appears that the start of next week will again usher in better chances for rain.
