Eddie Owen Presents Summer Songwriter Series featuring Chuck Cannon & Lari White

Live at Red Clay Theatre in downtown Duluth
CHUCK CANNON grew up in the low country of South Carolina. His Daddy and Grandaddy were both Pentecostal preachers, so his earliest musical influence was in church ... mama taking his hands and showing him how to clap on 2 and 4 ... teaching him how to sing harmony ... singing I'll Fly Away, Amazing Grace and Just As I Am ... always on the backbeat ... and soon as he could sit where he wanted to in church ... from the backseat ...

He began singing solo in church before he was five years old and his Daddy should've known better ...He's never stopped ... well not for long anyway.

The first album he ever owned was Johnny Cash's Folsom Prison record and it was the coolest thing ever 'til mama heard the cussin' on the record and took it from him. He listened to The Beatles, The Temptations, Smokey Robinson, the STAX stuff, CCR, Bob Dylan, Hank Williams, Merle Haggard, Jim Croce, Elton John, Jackson Browne, Bruce Springsteen, and others too numerous to mention - and they all influenced Chuck and what he likes in music.

Chuck hit the bars with his guitar when he was 17 and played the beach circuit for several years before moving to Nashville in 1984. He went to Belmont University and studied Music Business and Finance. In 1988, he met producer Marshall Morgan, who signed him as a staff songwriter to Taste Auction Music. In 1992, he opened his own publishing company, Wacissa River Music, Inc. In 2006, he started Chuck Cannon Music which covers all his new publishing and production efforts.

One of Chuck's greatest honors was to be elected President of the Nashville Songwriters Association International (NSAI, 2001-2003). He still serves on their Executive Board and Legislative Committees. The honors his songs have garnered include BMIs Eight-Million-Air award for the song "I Love The Way You Love Me" which was the Academy of Country Music's 1993 Song of the Year and went on to become an international hit when BOYZONE released it in Europe as a single in 1999, where it stayed at the top of the charts for over 3 months. He's had numerous multi-week number one songs and many other BMI Million-Air awards but of all the songs he's written, the ones that consistently bring me back to what he loves about music are the ones he hasn't written yet.

LARI WHITE is an award-winning recording artist, hit songwriter and producer, indie record label owner, and actress. Her music has earned three Grammys (The Apostle Soundtrack and Amazing Grace 1 and 2: A Country Tribute), and RIAA Gold (Wishes/RCA Records). Although her Nashville-based recordings garnered country radio hits and fans, her most recent studio album, Green Eyed Soul, was hailed by the London Times as the best soul album of the year. As the first female producer of a male superstar, Lari made music history producing Toby Keith’s platinum album White Trash with Money. Her songwriting credits include Tammy Wynette, Toby Keith, Lonestar, Danny Gokey, and Pat Green. She appeared opposite Tom Hanks in the blockbuster movie Cast Away, and has starred in films for Lifetime TV and CMT. She made her critically-acclaimed Broadway debut originating the role of June in Ring Of Fire: The Music of Johnny Cash. Lari has sung with the NY Pops, Boston Pops, and the Atlanta and Nashville Symphonies, and performs regularly for the legendary lyricists Alan and Marilyn Bergman.

JOHN JARRARD FOUNDATION
Live The Song, Love The Music, Lead The Cause.

Over the past 10 years, the John Jarrard Foundation has grown from an annual concert to a regionally-recognized organization supporting songwriters and a number of great causes. Beginning in 2000, the John Jarrard Foundation was established in the memory of our dear friend, and Georgia Music Hall of Fame member, John Jarrard.

The John Jarrard Foundation, originally known as the Bruce Burch & Friends Honor John Jarrard Concert, was established as an annual event to raise money for charities local to North Georgia. Over the course of time, this event has grown to become one of the premier songwriting events in the state of Georgia and furthermore, the Foundation has grown from one concert to multiple events throughout the year. From First Verse, a songwriting education program for students in the state of Georgia, to songwriting concerts throughout the Southeast and financial support to the charities closest to John’s heart, the John Jarrard Foundation is built on music and love.
The John Jarrard Foundation is a non-profit organization with proceeds going to a permanent endowment fund in John’s name established at the North Georgia Community Foundation. Proceeds benefit local charities, including the Good News Clinics, the Boys and Girls Clubs of Hall County, Georgia Mountain Food Bank Fund and one of John’s favorite causes, Good News at Noon Shelter.

The John Jarrard Foundation is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization.
