Eddie Owen Presents Songwriters In-the-Round w/ Hannah Thomas + Danielle Howle + Caroline Aiken

Live at Red Clay Theatre in downtown Duluth

ABOUT HANNAH...

Hannah Thomas has a style all her own that is hard to define - a little too rock to be country, a little too country to be rock. Amy Ray, half of the Grammy-winning duo Indigo Girls, probably describes her best when she calls Thomas an “outlaw songwriter.”

Hannah began performing in 2006 at 16 before she was even old enough to be in most of the venues, however, so many recognized her talent and drive and decided to support this up and coming superstar of tomorrow. Thomas has been honing her craft and building a loyal fan base ever since.

Hannah is already a force to be reckoned with, having won the several music awards, including the 2012 Georgia Lottery’s All Access Music Search. This award, something like the Georgia version of American Idol, started out with a field of thousands of contestants and led to Hannah getting to record an EP in Los Angeles at Capitol Records.

Those “outlaw” roots can be heard in her music. With influences like Johnny Cash and Terri Clark, Heart, and even Aerosmith - it is easy to understand why Hannah’s music can be so hard to label. But there is no mistaking the power in Thomas’ voice. “No auto tune needed for that voice” says Grammy-winner Shawn Mullins.

Hannah has performed all over the East Coast, sharing the stage with some of music's most respected performers including Sonia Leigh, Beautiful Small Machines (Bree Sharp & Don DiLego), Anitgone Rising, Michelle Malone, Don Dixon, Marshall Chapman and Mother’s Finest. She has also already had numerous television appearances including live morning and afternoon TV and the Georgia Lottery competition.

No words describe Hannah better as an artist than those said by Clay Cook of the Zac Brown Band-“When you came out on stage I had no idea we were going to witness about 3/4 badass.

ABOUT CAROLINE...

Independent to the bone with seven CDs, and with a Grammy nomination for Best Contemporary Folk CD in 2006, CAROLINE AIKEN has performed numerous times to benefit thousands of causes, and has played thousands of shows in her 40-plus years of touring at home and abroad.

Caroline has recorded with and shared stages with The Indigo Girls, Bonnie Raitt, and has been a guest performer at major venues with them such as San Antonio’s Majestic Theater, Denver’s Red Rocks, and Berkeley’s Greek Theater. Caroline has headlined at the Kerrville, Texas Music Festival (Main Stage since ’95), Seattle’s Bumbershoot (since ’96), Folk Life Festival (since ’76), NY’s Falcon Ridge, and Northern California’s High Sierra Music Festival.

Atlanta Magazine calls Caroline the "BEST ACOUSTIC ARTIST" (June 2003 GA MUSIC pictorial feature) and includes her full page picture next to Curtis Mayfield, Gladys Knight, The Black Crowes, the Indigo Girls, India Arie, and many more. Blue Suede News says; "Caroline tears her 12 string a whole new consciousness."

Caroline’s performances, direct and sincere, are known for emanating a high level of infectious energy, and those that have heard her perform live leave wanting more. Her genre spans many styles, from rock/blues/folk/country to piano ballads to finger style guitar picking--all accompanied by her rich and soulful voice. Caroline is an accomplished and diverse musician, being at home on both guitar and piano. Victory Music in Seattle raved about Caroline’s “sensual voice, expert guitar, [and] masterful songwriting.”

ABOUT DANIELLE...

Considered by many to be South Carolina's best kept musical secret, Danielle Howle is a punk rock girl with the voice of a honkeytonk angel. Opening for such diverse acts as Bob Dylan, Ani Difranco, Fugazi, and Indigo Girls, she has garnered worldwide acclaim while somehow remaining under the radar of mainstream America. Now is the time for South Carolina to share it's secret with the rest of America.
