Smog Alert Issued for Memorial Day

Air is likely to be unhealthy for some people such as children or adults who are sensitive to ozone.

The Metro Atlanta area, including Duluth, is under a Code Orange unhealthy air quality alert for Memorial Day.

The Georgia Department of Natural Resources Environmental Protection division issued a Code Orange alert, meaning the air quality has been deemed to be unhealthy for sensitive groups. Under Code Orange conditions, the air is likely to be unhealthy for some people such as children or people who are sensitive to ozone.

People with heart or lung disease are advised to limit prolonged outdoor exertion during the late afternoon or early evening when ozone concentrations are highest.
