Gwinnett Tornado Watch Lifted at 6 a.m. Saturday

Duluth, Gwinnett County were under tornado watch until 6 a.m. Saturday. Rainy until 2 p.m. Saturday.

The National Weather Service extended the tornado watch in Duluth and Gwinnett County from Friday at midnight to 6 a.m. Saturday. Severe thunderstorms were forecast with 100 percent chance of precipitation. New rainfall amounts of between a half and three-quarters of an inch were possible. The tornado watch was removed after 6 a.m. Saturday.

A low around 57 followed the daytime high of 76 Friday. Winds between 5 and 10 m.p.h.

Some spring events may be rained out. On Saturday there is a 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms before  2 p.m. It will be mostly cloudy with a high near 69 and windy with a west wind of 10 to 15 m.p.h. increasing to between 20 and 25 m.p.h. Winds could gust as high as 35 m.p.h. Rain to range between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

Saturday night is expected to be partly cloudy with a low around 42. West wind between 10 and 15 m.p.h. with gusts as high as 20 m.p.h.

The forecast for Sunday and Duluth's Easter Egg Hunt at Rogers Bridge Park is sunny with a high near 74 and a calm westerly wind around 5 m.p.h. Sunday night will become partly cloudy with a low around 45.
