Road, Parking Lot Closing Schedule in Duluth

Cinco de Mayo, Barefoot in the Park, and Old City Hall Block parking lot project prompts closings.

Duluth Economic Development Manager Chris McGahee announced road and parking lot closings during a busy time filled with festivals and improvement projects in downtown Duluth starting Wednesday (March 4).

The schedule is as follows.

Paver Lot: Paver Lot will be closed Wednesday (May 4) through Sunday (May 8) all day each day. The lot will be blocked to traffic very early Wednesday morning.

Main Street: Main Street will be closed at 3 p.m to 9:30 p.m. on Thursday (May 5) for Cinco De Mayo from the small turn around on Main Street at the mailboxes to Hardy Street. Main Street from Huthmaker's forward will remain open so ingress and egress from the Red Clay Theatre and MathiasStreet Smarts Building is unchanged except for no left turn on Main Street out of those parking areas. This is the only anticipated closing of Main Street for the week. 

West Lawrenceville Street: West Lawrenceville Street will be closed from 6 a.m. Friday (May 6) morning until Sunday (May 8) evening when the Barefoot in the Park Fine Arts Festival shuts down and vendors remove their tents. The powered sign utilized by Public Safety will alert motorist to the closing. Parking in front of Park Café and Sassy Girl will remain open during this time.

Old City Hall Block Parking Lot Improvement Project: The contractor has been asked to start work the week of May 9 for this project so as not to interfere with activities this week. The police barn and lumber shed will be demolished. Hill Street and Ga. Hwy. 120 may be closed for around 30 minutes when demolition begins.
