Rescue Organizations Invited to 'Yappy Hour'

Rescue Me Mondays continue at Gwinnett County Animal Shelter from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The Gwinnett County Animal Welfare and Enforcement Unit initiated “Yappy Hour” Rescue Me Mondays June 11 to attract rescue organizations to the Animal Shelter. More than 40 animals were available for rescue. Representatives of two rescue organizations attended and took 16 animals to find them homes, according to a press release.

A flyer was sent to 300 rescue organizations to advise them of the new weekly event. Each Monday from 10 a.m to 3 p.m., the shelter will be made available to rescue organizations to pull animals. The program continues Monday, June 18, and other Mondays at the Gwinnett County Animal Welfare and Enforcement Center located at 884 Winder Highway in Lawrenceville.

The rescue organizations must be licensed by the State of Georgia and bring their licenses the first time they come to the shelter. One representative of each rescue organization and a helper are allowed.
