Redbox Hosting 'America's Movie Night' Aug. 25

Redbox will host “America’s Movie Night” next Thursday, Aug. 25. The promotion encourages people across the country to stay in for an evening with friends and family to watch a movie -- on redbox. 

An online promotion that encourages offline fun, redbox is inviting Americans to “like’” the brand at www.facebook.com/redbox and receive a rental code redeemable for use on “America’s Movie Night.” The promotion is live now. Redbox fans can “pay it forward” by sharing with friends and family through their social media channels and email.

Redbox has rented more than 1.5 billion movies and on average rents more than 55 million movies monthly nationwide. Now it’s possible that more than three million redbox Facebook fans can enjoy their own free, one-night movie night. 

In taking a closer look at what Americans are renting, the company found laughter and family time take the cake with more than 413 million and 267 million rentals respectively as compared to 391 million dramas and 513 million action flicks.
