Plumbdent Farms Owners Earn Conservation Award

Duluth residents Billy Jones and Dr. Slade Lail honored at national convention

The National Wild Turkey Federation honored Plumbdent Farms and its owners Billy Jones and Dr. Slade Lail for implementing quality land management practices, supporting the community and outstanding involvement in NWTF.

Jones and Dr. Lail, both Duluth residents, accepted the Wild Turkey Woodlands National Award Feb. 17 during NWTF’s 35th annual National Convention and Sport Show in Nashville, TN. Jones is a member of the Duluth City Council. Lail serves on the Mayor’s Advisory Board and Duluth Alcohol Review Board. The award also recognizes landowners who conserve wild turkeys and preserve hunting heritage.

They frequently open their 356-acre Hancock County, GA, farm for education and outreach programs with the Georgia Forestry Commission, the Future Farmers of America, the Boy Scouts of America and the Special Youth Challenge Program. Plumbdent Farms also hosted a NWTF Wild Turkey Woodland Conservation Field Day for property owners in the area.
