Komen Atlanta, Kroger Partnering Saturday, Oct. 8

Volunteers distributing breast health info at 25 Kroger stores including 3455 PIB in Duluth.

Komen Atlanta is partnering with 25 Atlanta area stores including the location at 3455 Peachtree Industrial Blvd. in Duluth to raise money and awareness Saturday, Oct. 8, during Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Komen volunteers are distributing breast health information and accepting donations at the Kroger stores from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. The Susan G. Komen for the Cure Greater Atlanta Affiliate serves a 10-county metro Atlanta area including Gwinnett County.

Also, Komen Atlanta invites local churches, mosques and synagogues to Worship in Pink the weekend of Oct. 28-30. Congregations that register with Komen Atlanta will receive packets of breast health information for members. The churches and other religious organizations are encouraged to discuss breast health with their congregations, invite survivors to speak about their experiences, and ask congregants to wear pink.

Registration is underway for next year’s 22nd annual Komen Atlanta Race for the Cure on Saturday, May 12. Once registered, participants can organize and manage their fundraising activities online. Registration is $35 for adults and $15 for the first 750 children 12 and under.
