Feelin' Groovy? 1970s Fun in Duluth

The Woody's Fleetwood Mock Band will entertain concert-goers at second No Reason Block Party.

The Duluth Town Green may look like “Woodstock” all over again Thursday (Aug. 11) evening as concert-goers show up wearing bell bottoms, tie dye T-shirts, headbands, and “love” beads. The City of Duluth is hosting its second No Reason Block Party and encouraging attendees to wear 1970s attire to listen to the Woody’s Fleetwood Mock Band on the Festival Center Stage.

The Seventies-style summer fun starts at 5 p.m. and continues until 8 p.m. Admission is free but vendors will charge for food, beverages, and activities. Steverino’s will sell pizza slices, beer and wine. Sno Biz will offer shaved ice sno cones and Nathan’s hot dogs. Taste of Jamaica will serve jerk chicken and turkey legs; beef, chicken or veggie patties, rice, peas, and sodas. Food and beverage vendors will be located under a big white tent.

Activities will include volleyball, kick ball, hop scotch, jump rope, and Hula Hoop contests. Children can wear their swimsuits and cool off by playing in the city fountain. Tie Dye 4 will have a booth where children can tie dye a T-shirt for $10 and adults for $13. Mary Buck of Lightscapes Photography will take photographs of costumed concert-goers. Photo packages start at $45.
