Fans Get a Taste of 'DOOL'

Cast members from daytime TV drama 'Days Of Our Lives' delight fans at Duluth Festival Center.

About 1,000 fans of the long-running daytime TV drama "Days of Our Lives" came out to the Duluth Festival Center to meet and greet members of the cast Monday (Aug. 15).

Actors Patrick Muldoon (Austin), Susan Hayes (Julie), Drake Hogestyn (John), Kate Mansi (Abigail) and Bill Hayes (Doug) arrived around 1:30 to cheers from fans and flashes from their cameras.

The actors talked with fans, signed autographs and posed for pictures until nearly 6 p.m. to make sure everyone in line had an opportunity to meet them. The Duluth visit was a followup to a stop in March in Suwanee where some fans were disappointed after standing in line for several hours.

The visits were part of a multiple city tour to promote a book about the popular soap opera titled "Days Of Our Lives 45 Years: A Celebration In Photos." The actors signed copies of the books, fan scrapbooks and other memorabilia.

The NBC series started on Nov. 8, 1965, and has won numerous Emmy Awards and nominations as well as multiple Soap Opera Digest and People's Choice Awards. Several fans at the Duluth meet and mingle attested to watching the show since the first episode. The series will be entering its 46th year to the delight of fans.
