'Dummies' Coming to Gwinnett Library Branches

Gwinnett County Public Library will soon receive 'Books for Dummies' after winning online contest.

After winning a contest back in April, the  will soon collect its prize – a truck full of "Dummies."

In celebration of its 20 years of publishing the “For Dummies” series, Wiley Publishers gave away more than 1,600 copies of its “For Dummies” books to the library with the most “Likes” on their Facebook page dedicated to the how-to books. For two decades, the books have helped readers learn with titles covering everything from “Korean for Dummies” to “Homebrewing for Dummies.” 

The contest ended April 30, and the Lawrenceville Branch of the Gwinnett County Public Library won with 5,002 fans. In second place was the Salem-South Lyon District Library in South Lyon, MI, with 3,803, while the Bloomfield Public Library in Bloomfield, NJ, took home third with 2,418 fans.

The books will be delivered to the Lawrenceville Branch on Wednesday, Aug. 3, at 10 a.m. where they will be unloaded from the truck. From there, they’ll go to the Magnolia Room where they will be labeled with a bookplate and tag and distributed to GCPL branches.
