Duluth New Year's Eve Crawl

City compiles schedule of festivities to help you plan your celebration in downtown Duluth.

 

Planning to spend New Year’s Eve celebrating on ? Maybe you want to take the kids to the Winter Carnival and enjoy an early concert. Then head home, put your tired-out children to bed, and quietly welcome the new year.

Have dinner at one of Duluth’s restaurants and drop into some of the downtown shops before taking in the activities on the Town Green.

Or you and your friends want to watch the Chick-fil-a Bowl on the Big Screen. Catch later concerts by Allatoona and Banks & Shane and stay for the midnight festivities. Attend the bluegrass concert by the Mozier Brothers & Friends at the Red Clay Theatre and then step across the street to greet 2012.

You might even want to stay for the whole fun evening.

The City of Duluth has compiled a schedule of activities to make it easy to plan your evening. This schedule includes the addition of a ceremony just before midnight when retiring Duluth City Administrator Phil McLemore will “pass the torch” to incoming City Manager Tim Shearer.

The countdown to midnight will be led by Mayor Nancy Harris, McLemore and Shearer as the city’s “Catch the Spirit” icon ascends to the top of the Clock Tower followed by fireworks.

Duluth New Year’s Eve Crawl

6 p.m. to 12:30 a.m.
Crawl through the historic downtown to visit specialty shops and restaurants

Activities on the Town Green:

6-11 p.m. – GIGANTIC Snow Slide

6 -9:30 p.m. – Winter Carnival – Free Admission
Slide $1, Velcro Wall $4, Playstation $3, Space Walk $2, Gyro $5
Concessions will offer hamburgers, hotdogs, funnel cakes, French fries and other carnival food for sale

6:30 p.m.-12:30 a.m. – Live Music on Festival Center Amphitheatre Stage – Free Admission
Pure Taqueria will be on-site selling beer, wine and margaritas next to the stage
NOTE: Concert goers are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets

7 p.m. – Chick-fil-A Bowl Game on the BIG Screen – Free Admission
The Best of Brews will be selling beer in the Gazebo area
NOTE: Sports fans are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets

8 p.m. – Bluegrass Concert
