Duluth Customers Show Support for Chick-fil-A

Three Chick-fil-A restaurants in Duluth area report lots of customers turned out for Customer Appreciation Day.

Three Chick-fil-A restaurants in the Duluth area were busy serving lots of customers who showed up Wednesday on Customer Appreciation Day.

Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee called for Aug. 1 to be observed as Chick-fil-A Appreciation Day after a controversy developed over a statement by a Chick-fil-A executive supporting the traditional view of marriage as between a man and a woman. Chick-fil-A President Dan Cathy, the son of Chick-fil-A founder Truman Cathy, said the company supports “the biblical definition of the family unit.”

Response to Chick-fil-A Appreciation Day was “over the top,” commented the manager at the Chick-fil-A on Peachtree Industrial Boulevard.

“We had a very busy day, probably the busiest day we’ve had all year,” said a spokesperson at the Dwarf House on Pleasant Hill Road.

A spokesperson at the Chick-fil-A on Satellite Boulevard estimated that the restaurant had “twice as many customers as we usually have on Wednesday.”

Opponents of the company’s position against gay marriage have called for a National Same-Sex Kiss Day on Friday, Aug. 3, at Chick-fil-A restaurants.

The spokesperson at the Satellite Boulevard restaurant said no special preparations are being made for Friday.
