Construction Continues on DDI Bridge at I-85 & Pleasant Hill Road

Although the Pleasant Hill Road bridge over I-85 in Duluth opened June 9 as a new Diverging Diamond Interchange (DDI), construction is continuing on the center median and pedestrian facilities. Also, work crews are finalizing the signals, interchange lighting and pavement markings.

Motorists should remain cautious and alert as they drive through the new type of intersection, according to an update issued in late June by the Gwinnett Place Community Improvement District (CID)

The DDI design shifts traffic to the opposite side of the bridge to make left turns onto the interstate easier and improve the flow of traffic across the bridge.

The project is expected to be substantially complete in September, with landscaping to begin later in the fall.
