BBQ & Bluegrass Featured at 'No Reason Block Party'

Four community gatherings planned for the second Thursday from July through October.

The City of Duluth is inviting the community to come together and party under the big green and white tent on the Duluth Town Green on the second Thursday of each month from July to October. The first “No Reason Block Party” from 5 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, July 14, will feature barbecue catered by Brisket Bisket and bluegrass music by Smokey’s Farmland Band.

Brisket Bisket’s menu includes brisket sandwiches, pulled pork sandwiches, brisket biscuits, smoked teriyaki chicken wings, pulled chicken sandwiches, jumbo hot dogs on homemade buns, collard greens, smoked corn on the cob, organic cole slaw, organic baked beans, and pound cake. All of Brisket Bisket’s products are hormone free. 

3 Guy’s Entertainment will also be serving up hamburgers, fries, funnel cakes, cotton candy, popcorn, and sno cones. Steverino’s will sell beer and wine.

Activities include hay rides, inflatables, carnival games, sack races, tug of war and pony rides. Admission is free but there will be nominal fees for food, drink and some of the activities.

Smokey’s Farmland Band’s music reflects influences of bluegrass, funk, rock, reggae, Cajun, gypsy jazz, and progressive jams. Their songs often blend different music styles together in an innovative way. SFB opened for Willie Nelson at a sold out House Of Blues New Orleans concert and for Sam Bush at the Variety Playhouse in Atlanta last October.

Other No Reason Block Parties are planned for Aug. 11 featuring “The Woody’s, ”
Sept. 8 with music by “Jonathan Gale Rock & Roll Stories,”
 and Oct. 13 with entertainment by “The BorderCollies.” 
All the block parties happen from 5 to 8 p.m.
