The crowd, dotted with party hats, 2003 eyeglasses, sparklers, and other New Year’s symbols, congregated close to the stage and danced as midnight approached. Then they crossed to one end of the Town Green to watch an icon bearing the city’s slogan “Capture the Spirit of Good Living” ascend up the City Hall clock tower and midnight fireworks.

Attendance at the event, estimated at 4,000 to 5,000 throughout the evening, started at 6 p.m. New Year’ Eve and ended at 12:30 a.m. on New Year’s Day 2013.
