Tie Dye 4 Bakery Opens on Main Street in Duluth

Tie Dye 4 expands by adding bakery offering fresh baked donuts, cakes, pastries, and cookies.

The Tie Dye 4 Bakery on Main Street in historic downtown Duluth opened to rave reviews for its homemade sweets and treats.

“We sell fresh hot donuts and dress them the way you want,” said owner Deborah McCart, with glaze and toppings. “We call this ‘Naked Donuts.’ We also sell fresh baked pastries, brownies, cookies, croissants, delicious cheesecakes, coconut cakes, German chocolate, chocolate …every flavor of yummy cake. I also decorate birthday, bridal and baby shower, and special occasion cakes and cupcakes.”

Cakes are available by the slice or whole by custom order. Most cakes are $20. Cookies are $1 each or $10 a dozen. The bakery also offers hot steaming cups of Fair Trade coffee, espresso, lattes and iced coffees to accompany their baked goodies.

For lunch, customers can choose toasted buttery croissants filled with chicken salad, tuna salad, ham and cheese, or turkey and cheese. The order comes with a bag of chips or a choice of two potato salads and pickle spears for $6.50.

McCart plans to soon sell wine and beer with a dessert menu that includes creme brulee.’

Tie Dye 4 Bakery hours are Monday-Wednesday, 6:30 a.m.-8 p.m., Thursday-Friday, 6:30 a.m.-11 p.m.; Saturday, 8 a.m.-11 p.m.; and Sunday, 8 a.m.-5 p.m.

“On special evenings in Duluth when there are shows at the Red Clay Theatre and the New Dawn Theater, we will stay open as long as we have customers enjoying dessert,” she said. The Tie Dye 4 Bakery is located at 3107-C Main Street, 678-235-5322.

To continue the theme of her Tie Dye 4 birthday party company, which operates with a separate entrance on West Lawrenceville Street, McCart has decorated the bakery following a retro 1960s theme with modern seating, lava lamps, and classic rock music playing in the background. The bakery also has seating for 36 on the "back porch" that sits on the Duluth Town Green.

During the school year, birthday parties are scheduled by appointment. In the summer, Tie Dye 4 offers activity camps.
