The Work Spot in Duluth Celebrates Expansion

Co-working environment on Main Street in Duluth nearly doubles in size, adds training facility.

The Work Spot, which opened in downtown Duluth under a year ago, has expanded and nearly doubled its space. The new space next door includes a training room that can accommodate 50 persons and a large open space suitable for events that can accommodate 30 persons.

An open house occurred from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 1, to celebrate the new event and meeting space.

The expansion also added a private office that already has been reserved, an additional meeting room, and a lounge. About 1,900 square feet has been added to the Work Spot’s original 2,400 square feet, according to owner Rayann Larsen. Bobbie Flowers of Luv for Art has filled the walls of the new space with art for sale.

“Over a period of a few months, I had multiple requests for a training facility and larger meeting space,” Larsen said. “I didn’t want to disrupt our working community. Clearly there was a need to expand.”

"We're already booked into February," she said.

Regular Work Spot hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., but members are given key cards so they can work at all hours. Monthly memberships are available as well as day and hourly user rates. Open desk space is available from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. for $20 a day.

The Work Spot, which opened in early 2011, offers an affordable alternative to working from home or away from the office. For $95 a month, members can use the open work space three days a week with 24/7 access and utilize conference/meeting rooms four hours a month. By paying a $300 monthly fee, members have unlimited 24/7 access, a dedicated desk, unlimited use of conference/meeting rooms as available and storage space.
