PSNH Customers' Electric Bills to Increase

The average customer's bill will go up about $6 a month.

Public Service of New Hampshire's request for a rate hike was approved by the Public Utilities Commission on Friday, according to the Union Leader.

This means that PSNH's electric customers – including those in Bedford – will see an average rate hike of about $6 a month. The power company says the rate hike was needed because of the anticipated higher price of power and a loss of customers to other electric providers.

The reported increase in the monthly bill is inaccurate. The energy charge portion of the bill is going up, the stranded cost charge portion is going down. Combined, the changes will mean an increase of about $6.00/month. M. Murray,PSNH.

Thanks, Martin. The story has now been corrected to reflect that information.
