Mold in Ice Machine, Other Violations Get Duluth Restaurant a 'U'

Duluth Restaurant Inspections: See the latest health checks of area eateries.

Some Duluth area restaurants received routine health inspections recently from the Gwinnett Health Department. Here are the results.

  • IRON AGE: The restaurant at 2131 Pleasant Hill Road, Suite B4, received a "69/U" score on Nov. 25. Among the violations noted: Mold was present on the interior of the ice machine. The ice was discarded, and the machine was cleaned. Food contact surfaces must be cleaned to sight and touch.  Corrected On-Site.  New Violation. The full report is here.
  • TSING TAO BBO: The restaurant at 3940 Buford Highway, Suite B103, received an "84/B" rating on Nov. 25. Among the violations noted: In reach in cooler: 1) opened container of tofu (with no covering) was stored in bowl of raw pork that was nested in a bowl of raw shrimp; 2) raw chicken on styrofoam tray was stored directly on top of bowl of sauce. The foods were discarded. Foods must be protected from cross contamination during storage, preparation, holding, and display by storing raw meats under ready to eat foods.  Corrected On-Site.  New Violation.
