In the 'No Judgment Zone'

The emphasis was on health and fitness at the January meeting of the Duluth Merchants Association. DMA members, some in workout clothes, gathered in Planet Fitness at 3545 Peachtree Industrial Boulevard in Duluth Jan. 3, to tour the facility and try out the exercise equipment. Planet Fitness is offering a special membership deal through Jan. 25 of $10 down and $10 a month. Smoothie King provided samples of health drinks for DMA members to sample. Tim Simmons, manager of Sports Medicine Services for Gwinnett Medical Center-Duluth, handed out guidelines on 5K training, nutrition and hydration. Duluth Mayor Nancy Harris, l-r, and Planet Fitness Manager Keith Bryant encourage Duluth Patch Editor Faye Edmundson to exercise at least a mile on a recumbent bike, and she did. Also helping Faye reach her first mile was Sheri Eppright, right. Planet Fitness is known for its β€œNo Judgment Zone” where everyone feels accepted and respected as they strive to become fit. The DMA’s next meeting will be at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 7, at the Rexall Grill.
