Gwinnett Place, Mall of Georgia Extending Hours for Tax Free Weekend

Tax free weekend begins at 12:01 a.m. Friday and ends at midnight Saturday.

Gwinnett Place Mall in Duluth and the Mall of Georgia in Buford are extending their hours for the convenience of shoppers during the tax free weekend Aug. 9 and 10. The malls will be open from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday.  

Shoppers will have the opportunity to buy school supplies, clothing, shoes, and computers without paying state sales tax on the two days. The holiday begins at 12:01 a.m. Friday and ends at midnight Saturday.

The tax free weekend was reinstated by the Georgia General Assembly to assist families in equipping students returning to school. School started for Gwinnett County Public Schools Aug. 7.

According to the Georgia Department of Revenue, sales tax during the tax holiday will not be levied on general school supplies less than $20 per item, clothing and shoes worth $100 or less, and computers and computer accessories with a sales price of $1,000 or less.

The Mall of Georgia will host “Back At It” featuring fashion shows, demonstrations and discounts for teens and tweens in conjunction with Teen Vogue Saturday from 2 to 4 p.m. in the Village Amphitheater. Live musical entertainment will be provided by 10StepsBack and IM5.
