Gwinnett Place CID Links Business, Public Safety

First-ever lunch 'n' learn session focuses on safety efforts in Gwinnett Place Mall area.

The Gwinnett Place Community Improvement District (CID) devoted its first-ever “lunch 'n' learn” session to bringing local businesses and public safety personnel together.

Business participants included representatives from Gwinnett Place Mall, Mall Corners, Santa Fe Mall, Pleasant Hill Plaza, and Marketplace shopping center. They met with Maj. Christa Spradley, commander of the Gwinnett Police Department’s Central Precinct, and Gwinnett Clean and Beautiful Executive Director Connie Wiggins. Other public safety officials also were present.

Topics ranged from crime prevention to methods of curbing graffiti, according to Joe Allen, Gwinnett Place CID executive director, in a GPCID announcement. He said the June 17 session was overall positive, and similar functions are planned for the future.

“Our property and businesses owners are committed to keeping their investments and patrons safe, and the CID wants to support their efforts to do so,” Allen said in the announcement. “Our crime statistics show continual double-digit reductions in almost every category, and we are working hard to ensure that trend continues for greater Gwinnett Place.”

In addition to closely coordinating efforts with Gwinnett Police, the Gwinnett Place CID conducts daily community patrols throughout the week and funds private security for weekend service.
