Food Stored on Floor, and Food Prepared Without Washing Hands; Duluth Restaurant Gets a 'U'

Duluth Restaurant Inspections: See the latest health checks of area eateries.

Sushi Ya underwent a routine health inspection recently by the Gwinnett Health Department.

And the eatery at 2106 Pleasant Hill Road, Suite A4 received a "56/U" rating on Dec. 30. Among the violations noted:

Violation of Code: [.03(5)(c) ] Daughter of person-in-charge (PIC) prepared a bowl of soup for a customer without washing her hands. The PIC was informed that hands must be washed before preparing food. Food handlers must wash hands before handling food, when there is an interruption of task, whenever hands become contaminated, and a second time when returning to the food prep area from the restroom.  Corrected On-Site.  New Violation.

Violation of Code: [.04(4)(q) ] Two bags of rice were stored on the floor in the food prep area. The bags were emptied into a bin. Food must be stored in a clean, dry location stored at least 6 inches above the floor.  Corrected On-Site.  New Violation.
