Delta Community Launches Cool Ca$h Kids Program

Children learn about managing money while exploring fictional online town of Tonocash on new website.

Delta Community Credit Union announced the launch of a financial literacy program called Cool Ca$h Kids that teaches children ages 7-12 about managing money while exploring the fictional online town of Tonocash. 

The Cool Ca$h Kids edutainment website offers activities that help children learn about financial matters while hanging out on Main Street, attending Tonocash Elementary or visiting the virtual Delta Community Credit Union Branch.

According to the announcement, the site features four interactive activities to encourage good money management: and wise financial choices:

  • Interactive games – Play the videogame style Candy Store Caper to catch coins and bags of money while balancing out spending and saving to reach predetermined goals.
  • Educational tutorials and lessons – Visit the virtual Delta Community Credit Union Branch to learn how to write a check and fill out a deposit slip through step-by-step tutorials. At Tonocash Elementary there are lessons and quizzes on interest, currency, supply and demand, and other topics.
  • Dynamic comic – Follow the adventures of the Cool Ca$h Kids Club and their teacher Flo Cash as they explore things to do in Tonocash and learn financial lessons along the way.
  • Quarterly newsletter – Get to know the Cool Ca$h Kids, Max E. Million, Derek Dime, Katie Coin, Ralph Rich, and Penelope Profit, while reinforcing the lessons presented throughout the website.

“It’s never too early to begin teaching kids the financial skills they will need for life,” said Rick Foley, president and CEO of Delta Community Credit Union. “Coupled with Delta Community’s Sandy Savers Club and our other age-appropriate financial literacy resources, the new Cool Ca$h Kids program offers children and parents fun tools to nurture kids’ financial education from grade school through college and beyond.”
