Celebrate Cinco de Mayo at PURE Taqueria

PURE Taqueria hosting weekend tent party on Main Street in downtown Duluth.

PURE Taqueria in downtown Duluth will celebrate Cinco de Mayo with a weekend party under a tent on Main Street in downtown Duluth May 5 and 6. Main Street will be closed for the weekend for the Barefoot in the Park Fine Arts Market and for the Cinco de Mayo celebration.

The Cinco de Mayo Party on Saturday starts at 11 a.m. and lasts until closing. Restaurant staff will be roasting pigs outside the restaurant. There also will be an outdoor bar with Margaritas, beer, wine, tequila, and drink specials. Live music will be played from 5 to 9 p.m. under the tent.

PURE will also have a caricature artist drawing customers and Sauza Tequila girls on site pouring drinks. The tent goes up Friday night after 7 p.m. for people to start celebrating Cinco de Mayo early and stays up though Sunday,

Cinco de Mayo (Spanish for "fifth of May") commemorates the Mexican army's underdog victory over French forces at the Battle of Puebla on May 5, 1862. The holiday is celebrated more in the United States than in Mexico.
