A's and B's in Latest Restaurant Health Checks

Duluth Restaurant Inspections: See the latest health checks of area eateries.

Several Duluth area restaurants received A's and B's in recent health inspections by the Georgia Department of Public Health. Here are the results:

  • SUBWAY: The restaurant at 1160 Old Peachtree Road received a "96/A" rating on Oct. 3. Among the violations noted: Violation of Code: [.05(6)(a) ] Multiple broken food container lids. Maintain utensils/equipment in good repair.  New Violation.

  • PARK CAFE: The restaurant at 3579 West Lawrenceville Street received a "93/A" rating on Oct. 3. Among the violations noted: Violation of Code: [.04(6)(h) ] Potato soup with a preparation date of 09/25 & creole sauce made in house with a preparation date of 09/25 held in the facility over 7 days. Items were discarded. Properly date marked foods should be held at the facility a maximum of 7 days (day one is the date of preparation) before the foods should be sold, consumed and/or discarded.  Corrected On-Site.  Repeat Violation.

  • JAN WON JUNG: The restaurant at 2645 North Berkeley Lake Road No. 103-104 received an "84/B" rating on Oct. 7. It had received a "44/U" score on Sept. 30. Among the violations noted in the most recent inspection: Foods are not properly arranged to protect against cross-contamination during storage in coolers: (1.) Raw beef is stored directly above raw octopus in the upright cooler; (2.) Raw fish is stored above prepared vegetables in the reach-in cooler; (3.) In the walk-in cooler, raw fish is stored above cabbage; raw pork intestines are stored above seed sprouts; and raw beef is stored above cooked beef soup.
