July 3 'Duluth Celebrates America' Cancelled

Due to predicted heavy rain and flash flooding, the July 3 "Duluth Celebrates America" at Scott Hudgens Park has been called off.

Here's the announcement that appeared on the city's website Wednesday morning:

"Duluth Celebrates America is cancelled for tonight. Unfortunately, Mother Nature is not cooperating. The fireworks will be rescheduled to follow our Duluth Fall Festival concert featuring Rupert's Orchestra Sept. 14. Have a happy and safe 4th of July!"

Last year's celebration was interrupted by heavy rain, lightening and thunder, and crowds scattered to their vehicles to leave the park. The fireworks were also rescheduled to the Duluth Fall Festival concert on the Town Green.
