Eddie Owens presents Laughing Pizza at the Red Clay Theatre on June 30!

Bring the kids an come to see the local Atlanta family band, Laughing Pizza, at Duluth's Red Clay Theatre on June 30.

I first met Lisa, Billy and their 15-year-old daughter, Emily, about a year ago through a mutual friend here in Atlanta area where they live. The first thing that struck me was how beautiful Lisa and Emily were, but the second thing was how "normal" this family is even though they are a very successful family band named Laughing Pizza. Yep, they are a real family as well as a real band who write and perform all original pop-music for families.

You may be one of the 18 million families that watch their music videos on PBS stations around the country every day or you might have seen them on the Today Show, CNN or FoxTV. Perhaps you have seen them performing at theatres, music festivals, schools or other venues across the nation. Heck, they even appeared at the White House with Miley Cyrus and the Jonas Brothers! But if you have never seen them, you're in luck. They will be performing at Duluth's Red Clay Theatre on Saturday, June 30.

Lisa and Billy (the mom and dad) are both classically trained musicians and former music teachers and Emily plays multiple instruments including flute, drums, guitar, piano, and bass. (Want to guess who her teachers were!) Speaking of teachers, she attends school online because they travel so much and she co-writes all of the Laughing Pizza songs with her parents. (I wonder if she gets an English for that?) In her spare time, Emily stays busy crafting the new Laughing Pizza clothing line!

Laughing Pizza has released two DVDs and five CDs  and are the proud recipients of seven Parents’ Choice Awards. Their song “On My Way” was chosen by Julie Andrews and her daughter Emma Walton Hamilton (who co-wrote the lyrics) to be featured in the beautiful new book “Julie Andrews Collection of Songs, Poems, and Lullabies” (Little/Brown).

I took my two 6-year-old nieces, who are both "crazy about Laughing Pizza" to one of their recent concerts and they had a blast! Their live performance was very  energetic and interactive and kept my nieces dancing and singing throughout the entire show. I think the adults in the audience enjoyed their music as much as the kids! Its no wonder they have created such a loyal following across the country.

Come on out and enjoy this great family concert!
