Extras Needed for TV Pilot at Strickland House

Production company needs extras to appear as wedding guests in 'Out Life' TV pilot.

Kade Productions is filming a wedding scene for a TV pilot titled “Out Life” at Duluth’s Historic Strickland House and needs extras to serve as wedding guests. Potential extras are asked to come dressed in contemporary attire as if going to a wedding and arrive at the house at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, May 17, to be reviewed and selected to appear in the pilot.

Judy Wilson, president of the Duluth Historical Society, which operates the Strickland House as the Duluth History Museum, described “Out Life” as a cross between the popular TV series “Dawson’s Creek,” “Will & Grace” and “Friends.” A family member suggested the house as a filming location, Wilson said. Sites in Atlanta are also being used for filming, she said.

The Atlanta-based production company is looking for extras of varied ages, but no small children. Refreshments will be provided for the extras.

The main entry and staircase of the Strickland House will serve as the setting for the wedding, Wilson said, and another room will be used as the bride’s dressing room. “We’re just excited that this historic house can be used for other events,” she said.

After the pilot is finished, Kade Productions is planning a party on July 9 at the Strickland House, Wilson said. “It will be a fund-raiser for the museum,” Wilson said, “and the first chance to see the trailer for the pilot.”

“They love the house, and they want to do something for us,” Wilson said. The entire community is invited to the viewing party featuring food and drink and live musical entertainment, she said.

The Strickland House, completed in 1898, was the home of Henry and Alice Strickland, who as Duluth's mayor in the early 1920s was the first female mayor in Georgia.
