See 'You Can't Take It With You'

The New Dawn Theater Company is presenting a Pulitzer Prize-winning drama that's actually a comedy Aug. 16-Sept. 2.

New Dawn Theater Company presents its production of the Moss Hart & George S. Kaufman comedy, “You Can’t Take It With You” on Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays Aug. 16-Sept. 2.

Performances of the three-act comedic play, which won the 1937 Pulitzer Prize for drama, are scheduled for 8 p.m. Thursdays through Saturdays and for 2 p.m. Sundays. Judy McElroy is directing the play.

“You Can’t Take It With You,” set in 1936 during the Great Depression, focuses on the eccentric Sycamore family and the proper Kirby family. Alice Sycamore falls in love with Tony Kirby, the son of the owner of Kirby & Co., a banking and investment firm, where she works. Soon Alice and Tony become engaged, and the Kirbys are invited to dine at the Sycamore home so both families can meet. The result is chaotic and comical.
