'Out Life' Cast Appearing at Strickland House Party

Kade Productions to show trailer for TV pilot 'Out Life' with scenes filmed at Strickland House as a fundraiser to preserve historic home.

Atlanta-based Kade Productions, which recently filmed scenes for the TV pilot ‘Out Life” at the Strickland House in Duluth, will sponsor a party to raise funds to preserve the historic home Saturday, July 9.

The trailer for the pilot will be screened at the party, according to Judy Wilson, president of the Duluth Historical Society, which operates the Duluth History Museum in the home.

The cast and crew will attend and will answer questions about the show and sign autographs, Wilson said. Duluth residents appeared as extras in wedding scenes shot at the house in May.

The main entry and staircase of the Strickland House served as the setting for the wedding, and another room was used as the bride’s dressing room.

Wlson described “Out Life” as a cross between the popular TV series “Dawson’s Creek,” “Will & Grace” and “Friends.”

The party, which has a theme of “It’s All About History Y’all,” begins at 4 p.m. and features live musical entertainment, games and a barbecue supper. The menu includes barbecue pork and chicken, veggie burgers, green beans, baked beans, cole slaw, and banana pudding. Tickets are $20 and include admission to the museum.

"The cast and crew have a goal of raising $3,000, about three months rent for the museum," Wilson said. The Strickland House, completed in 1898, was the home of Henry and Alice Strickland, who as Duluth's mayor in the early 1920s was the first female mayor in Georgia.
