'Chat & Chew' Dinner with Hudgens Finalist Hope Hilton

As an extension of Hope Hilton's work for the Hudgens Prize finalist exhibition, the Hudgens will be holding a dinner to recognize and honor the influence that slavery has affected on southern cuisine. Many southern staples such as black-eyed peas, okra, fried chicken, and cornbread all have roots on the West African coast and were brought to America by slaves. Special guests for the evening include artist and visual mythologist Lynn Marshall-Linnemeier, poet Chauncey Beaty, and the former board president of Southern Foodways, Angie Mosier.

The event will be open to 25 applicants chosen at random, and is expected to fill up quickly. Submit an email by January 7 with the tagline 'Supper' to mail@hopehilton.com to be considered.
