Artists Brighten Patient 'Uplook'

Colorful ceiling tiles improve the view of patients recovering at Glancy Rehabilitation Center in Duluth.

The view for patients recovering at Glancy Rehabilitation Center in Duluth is cheerier now. About 20 artists from the Duluth area painted 30 ceiling tiles to go over beds at Glancy and improve patient "uplook."

Artists who provided 2- by 4-foot tiles for the project included:

Some of the artists painted more than one ceiling tile. The tiles have been installed in 30 patient rooms.

Bobbie Flowers, owner of Luv for Art in Duluth, provided space for the artists to paint the ceiling tiles. Glancy also worked with the Johns Creek Art Center on this project.

Joan Glancy Rehabilitation Center is a part of Gwinnett Medical Center, which has hospital campuses in Duluth and Lawrenceville.
