Severe Thunderstorm Watch In Effect Until 9 p.m.

Stormy weather in Duluth and Gwinnett County will give way to wind and much colder temperatures on Wednesday.

First thunderstorms, then maybe.. snow.

A strong cold front moving through the area is expected to give north Georgia a spring/winter mix of weather tonight.

The National Weather Service has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Watch until 9 p.m. tonight for most of central and north Georgia, including Duluth and Gwinnett County. Damaging winds and isolated tornadoes are possible.

Then later tonight, cold air will rush in and bring the possibility of some frozen precipitation, though no accumulation is expected locally.

However, the weather service says up to two inches of snow are possible in the northeast Georgia mountains and less than a half-inch from a line from Rome to Gainesville.

A Wind Advisory, with winds 15 to 25 mph and gusting to 40, is in effect until 7 p.m. Wednesday.

Wednesday is expected to be cold and windy, with high temperatures in the 40s.
