18th Annual Rainbow Village Golf Classic a Success

Tournament at TPC Sugarloaf in Duluth raises a record $57,000 for Rainbow Village, a transitional housing program for homeless families with children.

Rainbow Village 18th annual Golf Classic May 8 raised more than $57,000 this year, setting a new record for the fundraiser. The golf tournament was presented by Jim & Billie Ellis and Wilmington Trust.

Proceeds from the tournament help Rainbow Village families break the cycles of homelessness, poverty and domestic violence. The Golf Classic was held at TPC Sugarloaf in Duluth with 108 players participating. John & Jane Koontz and Jed & Martha Smith, tournament co-chairs, and many other volunteers worked tirelessly to ensure a successful tournament.

The day began with Chris Lybeer earning a cash prize for winning the putting contest. A shotgun start at noon signaled the beginning of the tournament. Although rain threatened, the skies eventually cleared, and players returned for a dinner provided courtesy of Outback Steakhouse of Johns Creek.
