A longtime area resident is leaving Duluth, but she's leaving her mark in the form of artwork.
Duluth resident Marty Mitchell is moving to Manchester, a west Georgia town near Warm Springs, but she told city officials Monday (Sept. 9) that she will donate four "cross stitch" paintings to the city.
Each of the pieces are of Duluth past -- Old Town in the 1930s, Ted's Fruit Stand, The Calaboose, and the Train Depot. The pieces will be displayed in the City Hall community room.
Mitchell completed the artworks in 1999, and they are based on paintings by longtime area resident Ann Parsons Odum.
