Rotary Club of Duluth Car Show
On Saturday, April 12, the Rotary Club of Duluth hosted its second annual car show in historic downtown Duluth as a fundraiser for Duluth-based Operation One Voice, a 503 (c) (3) nonprofit that helps families of Fallen Special Operations Forces, and other charitable causes. From 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., six categories of cars—antique classics, foreign sports, hotrods, 1972 & older muscles, post 1972 muscles, and pickups—were on display for all ages to admire.
Open to the public and free to spectators, the event featured professional judging with first, second and third prizes for each category, which were presented in a closing ceremony that also included a people’s choice award, voted by attendees. By participating in the show, all exhibitors additionally received goodie bags and the chance to win one of numerous raffle prizes. All attendees further had the opportunity to purchase dollar raffle tickets to win the cash pot, split with Duluth Rotary. The Rotary Club also sold commemorative car show tee shirts, burgers, hotdogs and drinks to raise money.
“The car show was a tremendous success,“ says Ric Baxter, President of Duluth Rotary. “We had perfect weather on the Duluth Town Green, which looked beautiful and provided the ideal venue for this event. We greatly appreciate the City of Duluth’s cooperation and support. A full crowd of individuals and families enjoyed an interesting variety of awesome cars, along with good food and a warm community atmosphere. Those who didn’t attend missed out, but we are already making plans for next year's show on the second Saturday in April.”
