Duluth’s Life Church International to Launch Foster Care Ministry

(Alpharetta, GA – Jan.  14, 2014)Life Church International of Duluth will launch its first foster care ministry on Sunday Jan. 19 and hold its first briefings for interested families on Jan. 22 and Feb. 2.

The 1,000 member church will recruit and equip foster parents and volunteers to serve the community’s hurting children. It will host a 90-minute introduction to Christian foster care ministry as part of the state requirement to be a foster parent or respite parent on Wednesday, Jan. 22 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. in the Kids Church Room. The second meeting will be after services on Sunday, Feb. 2 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Support team volunteers are also encouraged to attend Encounter FaithBridge to learn how they can serve foster children by assisting with meals, materials goods and services, transportation, childcare and more.

“We are so excited to be joining hands and hearts with FaithBridge to help solve the foster care crisis in America,” said Sr. Pastor Victor Massey of Life Church International. “Working together, we will restore broken lives, families and communities.”

For those interested in becoming certified as foster parents and respite parents, there will be a weekend FaithBridge Foundations training located at Life Church International. FaithBridge Foundations training is an intensive, multi-day event designed to prepare a prospect foster parent for the physical, emotional and spiritual demands of foster care.

Training will be held in Kids church Room Friday, Feb. 21 from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 22 from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and Sunday, February 23 from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Childcare will not be offered at the church during training.
