Tip Leads to Arrest of Bank Robbery Suspect
Female reportedly entered SunTrust Bank on Pleasant Hill Road in unincorporated Duluth and handed threatening note demanding money to a teller.
Johnette Pinkerton, 58, was arrested at her home in Lawrenceville after a tipster recognized her on surveillance footage of a robbery at a SunTrust Bank in unincorporated Duluth Jan. 31 and called Gwinnett County Police detectives, Cpl. Jake Smith reported Thursday.
Detectives compared ID photos of Pinkerton to the security footage and found they were a match, Smith said. Pinkerton was arrested at her home without incident, he said. She remains in custody at the Gwinnett County Detention Center without bond.
The SunTrust Bank at 2171 Pleasant Hill Road was robbed about 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 31. Gwinnett Police released images from the security cameras Wednesday afternoon.
The suspect presented a threatening note demanding money to a teller, according to Smith, and was given about $3,000 in cash. She walked out of the bank and was seen leaving in a light-colored passenger car.
The tipster saw the surveillance tapes on the 5 p.m. news, Smith said.
