Stock up on plants to beautify your yards at the Duluth Historical Society's Annual Spring Plant Sale from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, April 21, on the grounds of the Strickland House.
“Rose bushes, azaleas, hydrangeas, butterfly bushes, gardenias, forsythias, grapes, oak trees, and lots of annuals too numerous to list, plus some native plants will be for sale,” according to DHS President Judy Wilson. The sale is sponsored by Woody's Nursery, which is providing plants.
Also available will be “pass-alongs” dug up from their own yards and shared by DHS members.
Sandy Asbill from Sangrit Enterprises will offer natural compost and answer questions on organic composting and natural gardening.
Beekeeper Jay Parsons has been invited to return to sell honey and beeswax candles.
Jay Moore of "Mosher and Moore," a local musical group, will entertain from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
At noon Girl Scout Troop 1941 members will install the plaque they earned from the Natural Wildlife Habitat Society designating the Strickland House as a Natural Wildlife Habitat Preserve.
A Community Garden plot will be given away in a drawing at 3 p.m. Tickets will be available during the plant sale. The plot is part of the Community Garden the DHS recently started on the Strickland House grounds.
Proceeds from the plant sale will benefit the Duluth History Museum in the Strickland House. The sale will be held rain or shine.

Correction: Duluth Girl Scout Troop 1941 will install a sign denoting the Strickland House grounds as a Certified Wildlife Habitat from the National Wildlife Federation.
