Work Begins on Pedestrian-friendly Projects
Gwinnett Place CID announces construction has started on streetscape and sidewalk improvements along Pleasant Hill Road, Satellite Boulevard and other roads.
Major roads in the Gwinnett Place Community Improvement District are becoming more pedestrian-friendly. Construction on three streetscape and six sidewalk projects began in May, according to an announcement from the Gwinnett Place CID.
The streetscape projects include installing benches, trash cans, brick pavers and landscaping to accompany new sidewalks along parts of Pleasant Hill Road and Satellite Boulevard. New sidewalks also will be installed along Koger Boulevard, Pineland Road and parts of Steve Reynolds Boulevard, Old Norcross Road, Sweetwater Road, and Venture Drive.
“We are enthusiastic about the new pedestrian improvement projects, which will bring a whole new look to sections of Gwinnett’s central business district,” said GPCID Executive Director Joe Allen in the announcement.
Allen expressed appreciation to Gwinnett County for its role in the projects from planning to construction. Funding is being provided by Gwinnett County, federal Transportation Enhancement (TE) grants and the GPCID.
Construction will continue through October and require intermittent lane closures.
